The FoodForeThought team recently ran a 3 day team building event for the senior leadership team of Gavin Jones Ltd, Grounds Maintenance Division.
We started the event with a scavenger hunt around the National Memorial Arboretum in Burton on Trent. Four teams were given 25 tasks to complete each and the better they did the more money that they earned in order to buy ingredients for the FoodForeThought event on the evening of day 2.
Team A were asked to use the money that they had earned to come up with a starter dish, Team B a main course, Team C a desert and Team D were tasked with decorating the table.
The whole Team came together on day 2 for a business scenario challenge based at the Leadership Development Centre at St Georges Park, the FA’s new football centre of excellence. The event was based on playing to strengths and the role of each individual or team in contributing to the wider success of the whole group. There were various objectives that had to be met but the tactics could be anything from completing a classroom based communication challenge to a team of 6 all successfully traversing a high ropes course.
We were really impressed by the way that leadership was demonstrated throughout by all delegates, especially when it came to the teams from day 1 planning and cooking a 3 course meal for their colleagues based on the money that they had earned on day 1.
There was great evidence of creative thinking but also leadership collaboration to ensure that the entire menu was coherent, cooking facilities were maximised and whole event was a great success…
